Ask MPs To Support ART and Surrogacy

Ask MPs To Support ART and Surrogacy

On 13 August 2025, the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) and Surrogacy Reforms Bill was introduced into WA Parliament. This Bill is about more than law reform, it is about the right to create families here in WA, safely, ethically and without discrimination.

But let’s be clear: while many across WA have welcomed this reform with open arms, there are powerful individuals and groups actively fighting to stop it. They want to deny people in WA the chance to have families of their own, and to keep outdated and harmful laws in place. This Bill will:

  • End discrimination in our laws
  • Allow families to be recognised and protected at home
  • Ensure children born through surrogacy can have their parents legally recognised
  • Give WA the chance to establish a safe and ethical surrogacy framework

We cannot let opposition drown out the voices of real people whose lives are impacted. That is why we need you! If you are based in Western Austarlia then please take one minute to write to your MP through our Do Gooder campaign.

Share why this legislation matters to you, whether it’s your story, your dream of a family, or your belief that all children deserve recognition and protection.

Every personal story makes it harder for MPs to ignore us. Together, we can show Parliament that WA families deserve better.

WHAT TO DO

We’ve created a draft email you can send to your local MP. Before sending it:

  1. Take a moment to personalise the email. Share your own story, or the story of someone you love. Why do these reforms matter to you? You will need to personalise the text otherwise it will not send.
  2. Add your name and suburb so your MP knows you’re a constituent, otherwise they will not acknowledge it.
  3. Make sure to include all of the recommended MPs as many of them are from the Upper House where we expect there to be challenges.
  4. Hit send and make your voice count.

This is your chance to show your support for loving families and equal rights in WA. Together, we can help make sure no one is left behind.
